Position : RW
20-12-1972 Ústí nad Labem, TCH
Youth team / club formateur : HC Litvínov
A natural goal scorer with great scoring instincts, scored four goals on his four first shots in the NHL.
Wasn’t known to backcheck or play physically and that hurt his future chances in the NHL.
Olympic champion 1998 : he started the tournament on 4th line and was also used as the right-handed player on first powerplay unit (with Ruzicka and Jagr). After the group games, he was replaced by Milan Hejduk - his roommate and childhood friend from the same town - in both roles for the elimination round.
He eventually showed his goalscoring ability in a major international tournament when he became world champion in 1999.
Scored more than a point per game during his playing career (over 1000 points). Announced his retirement on August 30, 2010.
