His older brother Jozef also played professional hockey both in Europe and North America. Began playing ice hockey at the age of five.
Grew up idolizing Patrick Roy but rooted for New Jersey Devils.
Performed well in big-game situations on occasion, but accepted a role as a backup in the NHL for many years.
Great reflexes and recuperation after the initial shot.
Fast and good blocker hand. Questionable positioning in goal.
Let in soft goals from time to time. Was named the best Slovakian goaltender in 2007 and 2008.

Son grand frère Jozef fut également professionel de hockey tant en Europe qu'en Amérique du Nord. Peter commença le hockey à cinq ans.
Jeune il suivait les exploits de Patrick Roy mais supportait les New Jersey Devils.
Il performe dans les gros matchs à l'occasion, mais il accepta un rôle de remplaçant en NHL durant de nombreuses années.
D'excellents réflexes et récuperation sur le lancer initial.
Rapide et bon côté plaque. Son positionnement dans la cage pose parfois question.
Un peu trop tendre de temps en temps. Désigné gardien slovaque de l'année en 2007 et 2008.
