He already played in hockey games at the age of four back home in Togliatti.
Although Vladislav Tretiak was his childhood idol, he always focused on developing his own game growing up, rather than trying to pattern himself after other goalkeepers.
Great size and goaltending instincts. Very personable character.
Spectacular when in the right mood. Not so agile and almost clumpsy at times at the NHL level.
Inconsistent throughout his playing career. Retired in 2015.
NHL totals: 465 games and 2.58 GAA.

Il jouait déjà au hockey à l'âge de quatre ans chez lui à Togliatti.
Bien que Vladislav Tretiak eut été son idole de jeunesse, il s'est toujours concentré sur le développement de son propre style de jeu, plutôt que de tenter de copier d'autres gardiens. Personne très affable.
Grande taille (191 cm, 97 kg). Il comptait plus sur ses bons instincts, son anticipation et sa mobilité que sur sa lecture du jeu proprement dite.
Spectaculaire quand il était dans un bon jour. Pas très agile et presque maladroit parfois pour un niveau NHL.
Inconstant tout au long de sa carrière. Retraité en 2015.
