A little bit of an „old school“ Soviet player who displayed plenty of smartness and polish.
Drafted in the NHL by St. Louis Blues in 1992. Shortly thereafter that same summer, he had a serious car accident in Moscow.
It caused him to miss the entire 1992/93 season.
Although he resumed his playing career after the accident, he never went to North America. Instead he moved to the western neighbours in Finland.
Stayed three seasons in Finland and one in Sweden.
On the national team and Spartak Moscow he formed a dangerous line together with Nikolai Borschevsky and Vitaly Prokhorov.
Scored 462 (186+276) career points in 759 games.
Played his last six seasons back home in Russia and eventually retired in 2003.
Became a hockey coach for the Spartak Moscow juniors.
Inducted into the Russian Hockey Hall of Fame.

Un joueur un peu "à l'ancienne" de style soviétique, qui faisait preuve de beaucoup d'élégance et de finesse.
Drafté NHL par les Blues de St. Louis en 1992 mais le même été, il eut un sérieux accident de voiture à Moscou.
Cela lui a fait manqué la totalité de la saison 1992/93.
Il a repris sa carrière après l'accident, mais n'a jamais rejoint l'Amérique du Nord. Au lieu de çaa il est allé chez le voisin de l'ouest, la Finlande.
Il passa trois saisons en Finlande et une en Suède.
En sélection et au Spartak Moscou il formait une ligne dangereuse avec Nikolai Borschevsky et Vitaly Prokhorov.
Il a inscrit 462 (186+276) points en 759 matchs de carrière.
Il a passé ses six dernières saisons en retournant en Russie et a pris sa retraite en 2003.
Il devint entraîneur pour les juniors du Spartak Moscou.
Intronisé au Russian Hockey Hall of Fame.
