Known for his fighting spirit and ability to inspire his teammates. Represented Latvia 32 times.
Won the Latvian ice hockey championship five times.
Very good basketball player, winning the world student games with Latvia (1935 and 1937).
Also a three-time Latvian basketball champion. Latvian handball champion as well.
Graduated from the Riga State Technical School and the University Engineering Faculty.
After WW II he stayed with the US Army engineers and worked in civil service.
Finished his hockey career by playing in Augsburg, Germany as well as in Manitoba, Canada.
In 1964, he earned a Master's degree in Civil Engineering and Soil Mechanics at the University of Kansas (Lawrence, USA).

Connu pour son état d'esprit combatif et sa capacité à porter ses coéquipiers. International letton 32 fois.
Il remporta cinq fois le championnat de Lettonie.
Très bon joueur de basket, il a remporté le mondial étudiant avec la Lettonie en 1935 et 1937.
Trois fois champion de Lettonie de basketball. Également champion de Lettonie en handball.
Diplômé de l'école d'Etat des Techniques de Riga et de la faculté universitaire d'ingénierie.
Après la seconde guerre mondiale, il resta avec les ingénieurs de l'armée américaine et travailla dans le service civil.
Il a terminé sa carrière de joueur de hockey en jouant pour Augsbourg, en Allemagne, et au Manitoba, au Canada.
En 1964, il a obtenu une maîtrise de génie civil et de mécanique des sols à l'Université du Kansas (Lawrence, États-Unis).
