Started playing ice hockey at the age of nine in 1995. That same year he attended a hockey camp in Sweden. He went on to visit the camp on a yearly basis. Developed his skills in Sweden where he played junior hockey for three seasons.
He then continued to improve as a hockey player in the Czech Republic where he played for four seasons before pursuing his journey through Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Slovakia).

Commence à jouer au hockey chez lui, à Riga, alors qu'il n'a que neuf ans. Aussitôt, il se mit à fréquenter des camps de perfectionnement en Suède, où il fera une partie de ses années juniors (Stocksund, Almtuna, AIK).
Il a ensuite poursuivi sa carrière en République tchèque, pays qu'il rejoignit en 2007 (Vsetin puis Trinec). Retour à Riga en 2O10. Après un passage par la ligue ouverte du Bélarus, la DEL2 et l'Ukraine, il exerce ses dons dans le championnat slovaque.
