His father who was a baker moved from Helsinki to Tampere when Juhani was 13 years old.
Because of special war rules Ilves goalie Linkosuo played one game as a defenceman for Tarmo in 1942/43.
He was Ilves first junior coach and the brain behind the Finnish junior hockey program launched in the 1940s.
Five-time league champion (1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1951).
In 1950 he went to New York in order to get goaltending lessons from NHL goalie Chuck Rayner.
The trip was made possible by NHL’er Pentti Lund who was of Finnish origin.
Represented Finland 16 times. Retired in 1959. Co-founder of the Finnish Ice Hockey Museum.
He initially was going to be a lawyer, but eventually got into his father’s business, becoming a pastery chef, educating himself in the USA.
He became a confectioner/pastery chef who owned the popular Linkosuo bakery in Tampere.
The bakery expanded rapidly and today it is a multinational company, selling its own products.
Inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Son père était un boulanger qui déménagea de Helsinki à Tampere quand Juhani avait 13 ans.
En raison des règles spéciales de guerre, le gardien d'Ilves Linkosuo joua un match comme défenseur pour Tarmo en 1942/43.
Premier coach des juniors d'Ilves, il fut la tête pensante du programme de hockey junior de la Finlande durant les années 1940.
Cinq titres en championnat (1945, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1951).
En 1950 il alla à New York pour obtenir un coaching personnalisé par le gardien NHL Chuck Rayner.
Le voyage fut rendu possible par le joueur NHL Pentti Lund qui était d'origines finlandaises.
16 sélections en équipe de Finlande. Retraité en 1959. Co-fondateur du musée finlandais de hockey sur glace.
Initialement destiné à devenir avocat, il rejoint finalement l'entreprise familiale comme chef pâtissier, se formant lui-même aux États-Unis.
Il devint confiseur et chef-pâtissier, propriétaire de la célèbre boulangerie Linkosuo de Tampere.
L'entreprise connut une rapide expansion et devint une multinationale, vendant ses propres produits.
Honoré parmi les Lions du hockey finlandais (Jääkiekkoleijonat, n°7).
