One of the best pre-war goaltenders in Latvia. Seven time Latvian league champion. Played for Union Riga (1931-34) and ASK Riga (1934-40). Represented Latvia 18 times.
At the 1932 European Championships he was dubbed the "Small Canadian" for his fine play. After WW II he moved to Denmark until relocating to Canada where he passed away. He is buried at Pine Hills cemetery in Toronto.

Un des meilleurs gardiens de but lettons de la brève indépendance d'avant-guerre. Sept fois champion de Lettonie après avoir joué pour l'Union Riga (1931-1934) et l'ASK Riga (1934-1940). 18 sélections pour son équipe nationale. Ses prestations lors du championnat d'Europe 1932 lui valurent le surnom de "petit Canadien".
Après la Deuxième guerre mondiale et le retour de Lettonie dans le giron soviétique, il s'enfuit au Danemark puis au Canada où il restera jusqu'à son décès, à 81 ans. Enterré au cimetière Pine Hills de Toronto.
