He married Marco Sturm's sister Nicole. Was often the backup goaltender on his club teams, behind guys like Bernhard Englbrecht, Petr Bříza and Mike Rosati. Retired in 2007.
Became a hockey coach in the DEL and the second division. Assistant coach for the German national team.
Coached the German women national team in 2019 before being named general manager for men national team.

Il a épousé la soeur de Marco Sturm, Nicole. Il compte presque plus de matches en équipe d'Allemagne qu'en Bundesliga/DEL car il s'est retrouvé souvent barré en club derrière Bernhard Englbrecht d'abord, puis des gardiens étrangers ensuite (Petr Bříza et Mike Rosati).
A joué jusqu'en 2007 puis s'est reconverti avec succès dans l'entraînement, d'abord en club puis ensuite pour les différentes équipes d'Allemagne, notamment en tant qu'assistant-vidéo.
Entraîneur de la Mannschaft féminine en 2019 avant de devenir directeur général de l'équipe masculine.
