His hockey hero growing up was the late Sergejs Zoltoks. Hard working and tough winger. Physical player finishing his checks. Not the best shot but a decent goal scorer. Drafted in the NHL by Boston Bruins 2004. Returned from North America in January 2010. Continued playing in the KHL.
Got Covid-19 during 2022 Olympic tournament. He couldn't play and announced his national team retirement afterwards.

Admirateur du regretté Sergejs Zoltoks, cet ailier de ligne défensive, travailleur et costaud, est du genre à ne jamais laisser tomber un duel. Bon buteur également malgré un tir qui manque de précision. Drafté par les Bruins en 2004 alors qu'il était international des moins de 20 ans, il écuma les ligues juniors puis fut baladé dans les ligues mineures au gré d'un contrat à deux volets. Revenu en Europe en janvier 2010, plus précisément en KHL.
6 points marqués (1+5) en 24 parties de saison régulière de NHL avec Boston et Tampa Bay.
Il a attrapé le Covid-19 pendant les Jeux olympiques 2022 et a annoncé sa retraite internationale après le tournoi, sans avoir pu jouer.
