Born in Želiv, but learned to play ice hockey in Nový Bydžov. Fearless goaltender who followed the puck very well. Catlike reflexes.
Gold medalist in the 1947 Winter Universiade.
Represented Czechoslovakia 7 times. Most of the time he served as a backup behind the excellent Bohumil Modrý. Broke his little finger just prior to the 1947 World Championships. Later re-broke the little finger against Austria at that same tournament, his only game in 1947.
Studied law in Prague at the time when he was killed in an airplane crash, problably over the Channel.

Né à Želiv, il apprit le hockey à Nový Bydžov. Gardien téméraire qui lisait parfaitement les trajectoires et disposait de réflexes félins.
Médaillé d'or des Universiades d'hiver 1947.
Sept sélections avec la Tchécoslovaquie, où il faisait figure de numéro 2 derrière le légendaire Bohumil Modrý.
Son destin est particulièrement malheureux : premièrement, sa participation aux Mondiaux 1947 fut tronquée par deux fractures consécutives au doigt, dont une à son seul match contre l'Autriche, et, surtout, cet étudiant en droit disparut dans la catastrophe aérienne du ČLTK en novembre 1948, probablement au-dessus de la Manche.
