US-born player of Dutch origin. He played for St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota. In the mid 1970s he was contacted to join the Dutch league where he became an instant hit.
He was pretty tall and lanky with good overall skills. Scored 738 (352+386) career points in 477 games. Retired in 1987.
Worked as a coach in the Netherlands and on the technical staff of Friesland Flyers.

Américain d'origine néerlandaise, il joua au début des années 1970 en hockey universitaire avec le St.Mary's College de Winona, dans l'État du Minnesota, avant d'être contacté par la fédération néerlandaise qui, à l'époque, moissonnait ses descendants d'émigrés en Amérique du Nord. Parmi eux figurait Jan Janssen, qui explosa en championnat des Pays-Bas avec 738 points (352+386) sur 477 matches de carrière.
Cet attaquant costaud et de bonne taille prit sa retraite en 1987 et intégra le staff technique des Friesland Flyers, son ancien club rebaptisté.
