Played for Steaua Bucureşti between 1964 and 1990.
Won twenty league titles as a senior and one as a junior.
Also won sixteen Romanian cup titles, making him one of the most successful Romanian players of all time.
Coached Steaua Bucureşti between 1990 and 2002, winning eight league and nine cup titles.
Coached the Romanian National Team in 1999 and 2000.
Also coached the Romanian U-20 team in 1993 and 1994.
