Older brother of Marcel Hossa and son of former national team coach František Hossa.
Began playing ice hockey at the age of five. His favorite team growing up was Dukla Trenčín.
His most influential person and hockey hero growing up was Peter Šťastný. He also admired the play of Wayne Gretzky and Peter Bondra.
Shifty player with tremendous balance. Hard to knock off the puck. Great hockey sense and a fine set of hands.
An elite two-way forward and awesome in all three zones. Noted as a tremendous back-checker. Not physical enough given his size.
First player in NHL history to make three consecutive trips to a Stanley Cup final with three different teams (Pittsburgh, Detroit and Chicago).
Named Slovakias best player 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010.
Before the 2017–18 season, the Chicago Blackhawks revealed that Hossa was suffering from a progressive skin disorder and would miss the entire season while undergoing treatment.
NHL totals: 1309-525-609-1134. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020.

Frère aîné de Marcel Hossa et fils de l’ancien entraîneur de l’équipe nationale František Hossa.
Il a commencé à jouer à l’âge de 5 ans. Son équipe favorite était le Dukla Trenčín.
La personne la plus influente pour lui et son héros en hockey était Peter Šťastný. Il admirait aussi Wayne Gretzky et Peter Bondra.
Joueur rusé avec un excellent équilibre. Dur de lui enlever le palet. Grand sens du hockey et doué de ses mains.
Un très bon attaquant et défenseur et incroyable dans les trois zones. Noté comme un excellent joueur pour retourner rapidement en zone. Pas assez physique vu sa taille.
Premier joueur de la NHL à participer à trois finales de coupe Stanley avec trois équipes différentes (Pittsburgh, Détroit, Chicago).
Nommé meilleur joueur slovaque en 2006, 2007, 2008 et 2010.
Avant la saison 2017/18, les Blackhawks révèlent qu’Hossa souffre d’une maladie de la peau et manquera toute la saison pour se soigner. Il ne rejouera plus, sa peau ne supportant plus l'équipement de hockeyeur.
1134 points (525+609) en 1309 parties de saison régulière de NHL. Intronisé au Hall of Fame dès sa première année d'éligibilité en 2020.
