Big solid player who was physically imposing by the sheer fact that he was bigger than most opponents. Good hard hitter.
Born in Davos but raised both in Davos and Chur. Longtime Berliner SC captain. Excellent leadership qualities.
His father, Dutchman Willem Jan Holsboer [1834-1898] built the Kuranstalt Spengler-Holsboer health clinic. together with German Alexander Spengler. The old Holsboer also founded the Rhaetian Railway and it is thanks to his initiative that Davos gained its first railway link with the lowlands in 1890. The family later owned Palace Hotel in Davos.
Max Holsboer was pretty versatile as he once in 1931 played as a goaltender in a friendly game. Retired in 1935 at the age of 52.
Studied chemistry and was a doctor of philosophy in civilian life. Also an LIHG referee.
Befriended legendary filmmaker and Adolf Hitler’s personal friend, Leni Riefenstahl, and she got him into several movies as an actor.

Joueur grand et solide qui s’imposait physiquement par sa taille supérieure et ses mises en échec.
Né à Davos, il a grandi à la fois à Davos et à Coire.
Il a longtemps été le capitaine du Berliner SC. Très bonnes qualités de leadership.
Son père - néerlandais - Willem Jan Holsboer [1834-1898] a construit la clinique de cure Spengler-Holsboer avec l’Allemand Alexander Spengler. Il a aussi fondé les chemins de fer rhétiques et grâce à ses efforts, Davos a eu son premier contact ferroviaire dès 1890. Sa famille possédait le Palace Hotel de Davos.
Max était très polyvalent et a un jour de 1931 joué comme gardien dans un match amical. Il a arrêté en 1935 à l’age de 52 ans. Il fut également arbitre international pour la LIHG.
Il a étudié la chimie et fut docteur en philosophie.
Acteur, il a notamment joué dans le premier film de la réalisatrice légendaire (et proche de Hitler) Leni Riefenstahl en 1932.
