Son of Kurt Harand and younger brother of Christoph Harand.
His father was an ice hockey player and his mother was a figure skater.
His mother and grandmother were both born in what was then Czechoslovakia.
Austrian champion in 2007 and 2008 with Salzburg, then in 2013 with Klagenfurt after an injury-plagued season.
Retired in September 2020 and co-founded the Austrian player union with .

Fils de Kurt Harand et frère cadet de Christoph Harand.
Son père était hockeyeur international et sa mère patineuse artistique.
Sa mère et sa grand-mère sont nées toutes les deux dans ce qui était alors la Tchécoslovaquie.
Champion d'Autriche en 2007 et 2008 avec Salzbourg, puis en 2013 avec Klagenfurt après une saison gâchée terminée pour lui sur blessure.
Il a pris sa retraite en septembre 2020 pour devenir aussitôt un des fondateurs du syndicat des hockeyeurs autrichiens avec .
