Had a great first pass, good vision and shot. Very mobile for his size. Was a decent point-man on the power play. Generally played a consistent game in his own zone, although he wasn’t much of a physical defenseman and had a tendency to pinch in the offensive zone. Overall, the lack of physical play given his size hurt his NHL-career. Retired in 2017 at the age of 41.

Très bon relanceur, passeur et tireur, grande mobilité pour un si grand gabarit (188cm, 98 kg). Soutenait utilement le powerplay depuis le bleue adverse et commettait peu d'erreurs dans sa zone.
Il pouvait parfois se laisser aller à trop monter en zone offensive et n'était pas particulièrement physique. Ce manque d'attrait pour la "rudesse", dirons-nous, a abrégé sa carrière NHL entamée tôt (en 1997). Il a pris sa retraite en 2017, jouant encore en KHL à 41 ans.
