Small player but a very good skater with the ability to go straight on net. Began playing ice hockey at the age of five thanks to his father who also played the game.
Was part of the Czech National Team at the 2010 World Championships for three days, before having to step aside when NHL players reinforced the team. Was a reservist again in 2014.
In 2019 he wasn't even on the WC roster as he couldn't come to the camp because of an illness but was a late call and scored in his very first game.
In January 2022, when he learnt on TV he wasn't on Olympic roster, he announced his retirement from national team. He expressed his disappointment because no one called him to tell him the news. He had played his last games for Czech Republic one month before in Moscow.
Czech Extraliga best scorer three years in a row from 2018 to 2020.

Joueur de petit gabarit mais très bon patineur, aimanté par la cage. Son père jouait aussi à un bon niveau et il vaccina son fils au hockey dès ses cinq ans.
Fit pendant trois jours partie de l'équipe tchèque future championne du monde 2010, avant de céder sa place à l'arrivée des renforts NHL. Il fut aussi réserviste en 2014.
En 2019 il n'était même pas dans l'effectif car il n'avait pas pu venir au camp, malade, mais a été rappelé pendant le tournoi et a marqué un but à son premier match.
En janvier 2022, apprenant à la télévision qu'il ne faisait pas partie de la sélection olympique, il annonça sa retraite de l'équipe nationale, exprimant sa déception que personne n'ait daigné l'appeler our lui annoncer la nouvelle alors qu'il jouait encore ses dernières rencontres pour la République tchèque un mois plus tôt à Moscou.
Meilleur marqueur de l'Extraliga tchèque trois années de suite entre 2018 et 2020.
