Well-spoken player who came from a fairly affluent background and a tightknit Greek-Canadian family.
Solid skater and playmaker who had a stellar junior career.
Lived at home for much of his junior career, and some say he may have been a little pampered.
Had the skills but wasn’t your typical gritty type of player.
Was also below average standard defensively.
He was a first round draft pick by Hartford Whalers in 1988.
Unfortunately Govedaris and Hartford did not agree on how to proceed with his career.
Hartford thought he was his worst enemy and that he thought of himself over the team.
Was cut from the Canadian National Junior Team when he encountered a coach he previously had problems with.
Scored 1078 (536+542) career points in 1069 games.
Retired in 2002. President of Nutmeg in Hartford, Connecticut. NHL totals: 45-4-6-10

Patineur solide et créateur de jeu qui a eu une carrière junior stellaire.
Vivait dans sa famille pendant sa carrière junior, ce qui faisait dire à certains qu’il était trop gâté.
Il avait du talent mais n’était pas très courageux. Également en dessous des standards défensifs.
Drafté au premier tour par les Whalers de Hartford en 1988. Cependant le joueur et l’équipe n’ont pas réussi à se mettre d’accord.
Hartford pensait que Govedaris était son pire ennemi et qu’il pensait d’abord à lui plutôt qu’à l’équipe.
Retranché de l’équipe junior canadienne quand il rencontra un entraîneur avec lequel il avait déjà eu des problèmes.
A marqué 1078 (536+542) points en 1069 matchs.
Retraité en 2002. Président de l'entreprise de construction Nutmeg à Hartford.
10 (4+6) points en 45 parties de saison régulière de NHL.
