Older brother of Stephen Gionta. His favorite team growing up was the Buffalo Sabres.
The players he admired growing up included Wayne Gretzky and Pat Lafontaine.
Scored a school record of 123 goals in four years with Boston College and was a three-time finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
Top scorer of the 1999 World Junior Championships, though with a minus-1 record. The United States finished 8th.
Small player with a lot of feistiness and energy.
Offensive two-way forward with excellent speed and acceleration.
Nifty skills and instincts around an opposing net.
Not afraid to take a pounding in front of the net.
Target of big hits and sometimes an inconsistent point producer.
Stanley Cup champion 2003 with the New Jersey Devils.

Cible de grosses mises en échec et parfois inconstant dans sa production offensive.
Vainqueur de la Coupe Stanley 2003 avec les New Jersey Devils.
