Born in New Haven, CT and raised in Hamden, CT. Also attended Hamden High School.
Then played in the AtHL for New Haven between 1946 and 1949.
Was the spare defenseman on the American team at the 1948 Olympics.
Finished his career playing for various amateur teams in Hamden, playing several seasons with various Connecticut entries in the AHA playoffs (i.e. Brock-Hall Bears).
In 1969, in recognition of 20 years participation in the ice hockey American International College, an all-time varsity school all-star team was selected, and Geary made that team.
Don Geary attained a Master’s Degree in teaching from A.I.C. College in Springfield, MA.
He worked as a school teacher for 26 years in the Rome City School District, NY.
Later worked 15 years with the International Paper Company in product sales.
Was an avid golfer and an eight time city champion in that sport.
He passed away peacefully at the Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, Florida with his family at his side. He is buried at Saint Peters Catholic Cemetery in Rome, New York.

Né à New Haven et élevé à Hamden, également dans le Connecticut. Fréquenta le lycée Hamden.
Il a joué dans la AtHL pour New Haven entre 1946 et 1949.
Défenseur remplaçant de l'équipe américaine olympique en 1948.
A fini sa carrière en jouant pour de nombreuses équipes amateurs à Hamden, participant plusieurs saisons avec les représentants du Connecticut dans les play-offs d'AHA (comme les Bears de Brock-Hall).
En 1969, en reconnaissance des 20 ans de participation au hockey international universitaire américain, l'équipe-type scolaire de tous les temps a été sélectionnée et Geary a fait cette équipe.
Il avait un master en enseignement du A.I.C College à Springfield, Massachussets.
Il a travaillé comme enseignant pendant 26 ans au Rome City School District, puis 15 ans au département des ventes de l’International Paper Company.
Il fut un bon golfeur, 8 fois champion de la ville dans ce sport.
Il est décédé tranquillement au Martin Memorial Hospital avec sa famille à ses côtés. Il est enterré au cimetière Saint Peters à Rome, dans l'État de New York.
