Born in Giszowiec in the eastern district of Katowice. Came from a poor working class family who all were sportsoriented.
Began playing ice hockey at the local pond as a child. He made his own sticks and occasionally sold his home made sticks to provide money for the family.
He also worked as a caddie at the local golf course where American businessmen from Katowice played, the tips he got was also a source of income for the family.
Started out as a forward but shifted to defense in later years. Good skater and technical player.
First player in Poland to realize the importance of summer training.
Ran 5km daily to keep in shape. Great ice hockey enthusiast who really loved the sport. Represented Poland 47 times (15 goals). Selected for the 1956 Olympics but got injured.
Also a decent skier. Worked as an ice hockey coach in later years.
Coached the Polish national team at the 1959 World Championships.

Né à Giszowiec, district de mineurs à l'est de Katowice. Issu d’une famille ouvrière pauvre, orientée vers le sport.
Commence le hockey étant enfant à la patinoire locale. Il fabrique ses propres crosses et à l’occasion vend ses crosses faites main pour apporter de l’argent à sa famille.
Il a aussi travaillé comme caddie au golf local où des hommes d’affaires américains de Katowice jouait. Ses pourboires étaient une source de revenus pour sa famille.
D’abord attaquant, il bascule en défense plus tard. Bon patineur et joueur technique.
Premier joueur polonais qui reconnaît l’importance de l’entraînement estival.
Court 5 kilomètres tous les jours pour garder la forme. Adorait vraiment le hockey sur glace.
Il a représenté la Pologne 47 fois (15 buts). Il a été sélectionné pour les JO de 1956 mais s'est blessé.
Bon skieur. Il a ensuite travaillé comme entraîneur de hockey.
Entraîneur de l’équipe nationale polonaise aux Championnats du monde 1959.
