Both of his parents were born in Italy. The uncle of Garry Gambucci.
Was a three-sport athlete, playing baseball, football and ice hockey for Colorado College.
Had offers both from the NFL and NHL. Boston Bruins offered him $ 5000, but he turned down the offer and became a playing coach in Italy (Cortina d’Ampezzo) instead.
According to himself the highlight of his playing career was winning a silver medal at the 1952 Olympics. After his career he had a total of four hip and two knee surgeries.
Became a hockey referee and officiated until 1977. Voted the best collegiate hockey official of the 1960s and 1970s by the country's college hockey coaches. Also worked in the insurance business.
Passed away due to complications from congestive heart failure.

Il pratiquait trois sports, le baseball, le football américain et le hockey sur glace, au Colorado College.
Il a reçu des offres de la NFL et de la NHL. Les Bruins de Boston lui ont offert 5000$ mais il a refusé pour devenir entraîneur-joueur à Cortina d’Ampezzo en Italie.
D’après lui, le meilleur moment de sa carrière de joueur est sa médaille d’argent aux JO de 1952.
Après sa carrière, il subira quatre opérations de la hanche et deux du genou.
Arbitre de hockey jusqu'en 1977. Nommé meilleur arbitre en hockey universitaire dans les années 1960 et 70 par les entraîneurs.
Décédé de complications d'un arrêt cardiaque.
