Suffered a serious shoulder injury in Germany’s opening game of the 2006 Olympics and missed the remainder of the season. Only made afterwards a brief return under the Mannschaft's shirt, although being a stalwart "A" with DEL's powerhouse Wolfsburg.

Gravement blessé à l'épaule lors du match inaugural des Allemands aux JO de Turin en 2006, il dut ensuite renoncer au reste de la saison. Passé de Cologne à Wolfsburg en 2008, il en est devenu un cadre mais n'est réapparu que très brièvement en équipe nationale.
