Grew up in Sherwood Park, AB. Cousin of former NHL’er Tom Bladon.
Played his bantam hockey in Lloydminster and Alberta.
Very good baseball player as a junior who starred on six Alberta provincial amateur junior championship teams and also won a Western Canadian and National championship.
Was drafted as underage junior by New Jersey Devils in 1983.
Tried to pattern his style of play after his idol Stan Smyl.
In 1987, his agent phoned him during holidays in Mexico and offered him a contract for Bad Nauheim, Germany. He was eager to leave North American minor leagues.
He played five years in the second Bundesliga. He scored 670 (253+417) points in 236 games there.
In Bad Nauheim he met his future wife Beate and left his Canadian passport to play for Germany.
Then he played ten years in German elite league and scored 320 (108+212) career points in 406 regular season games.
After his player career, he returned to Canada and moved to Kelowna, BC, with his wife and his two sons.
There he opened a sports shop, "Chevy's Source for Sports" with 17 employees.

Il a joué son hockey bantam à Lloydminster et Alberta.
Très bon joueur de baseball en junior qui a remporté un championnat de l'Ouest et un championnat national du Canada.
Il a été drafté à tout juste 18 ans par les New Jersey Devils en 1983.
Il essayait de modeler son style de jeu sur celui de son idole Stan Smyl.
En 1987, son agent le contacte en vacances en Mexique et lui propose de rejoindre Bad Nauheim en Allemagne. Il est trop content de quitter les ligues mineures.
Il a joué cinq ans en deuxième Bundesliga. Il y a marqué 670 (253+417) points en 236 matches.
C'est à Bad Nauheim qu'il a rencontré sa future épouse Beate et qu'il abandonne la nationalité canadienne.
Il a ensuite joué dix ans dans l'élite allemande et y a marqué 320 (108+212) points en 406 matches de saison régulière.
Après sa carrière de joueur, il s'est établi à Kelowna en Colombie-Britannique avec sa femme Beate et ses deux fils.
Il y a ouvert une boutique d'articles de sports, "Chevy's Source for Sports" avec 17 employés.
