Position : RW

04-04-1962 Kladno, TCH

Youth team / club formateur : TJ SONP Kladno

Fast-skating winger with a quick shot and high level of energy.
Emerged as one of the most talented Czechoslovakians of his generation, already playing senior hockey at the age of 16 and representing the national team at the age of 18.
Made some headlines when he was drafted in the first round (17th overall) by Buffalo Sabres in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, making him the first Czechoslovak player to be selected in the first round of the NHL-draft.
Many NHL scouts at that time considered Dudáček to be the top junior prospect in the 1981 draft class. Legendary coach Scotty Bowman held him in high regard.
The communist regime wouldn’t let him go, so he stayed. He didn’t want to defect because it would have destroyed the lives of his family.
Represented Czechoslovakia 40 times (8 goals), having his best moment alongside veteran Milan Nový during the 1981 Canada Cup tournament, scoring two goals in the game against Canada.
He battled injury problems, one was a fatigue syndrome that left him without any energy after games. Later on he had knee problems.
Finished his playing career in France and Germany, retiring in 1995, making a brief comeback in 1999/2000.
Played veteran hockey for many years. Went on to work for a company that installed plastic windows.
