Born in Bangkalan, East Java province of Indonesia, although travel documents from 1917 had him born in Binjai (Bindjey) in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia.
He grew up in the Netherlands where he came as a child.
Very technical player and regarded as one of the best pre-war players in Netherlands.
Scored 63 (43+20) points in 145 games. Was the playing coach for Tilburg in the late 1930s and early 40s. Retired in 1942 because of the war. Came out of retirement for one game in 1947.

Il a grandi aux Pays-Bas où il est arrivé enfant.
Joueur très technique considéré comme un des meilleurs hockeyeurs d'avant-guerre aux Pays-Bas.
A marqué 63 (43+20) points en 145 matches. Entraîneur-joueur de Tilburg à la fin des années 30, il a arrêté en 1942 à cause de la guerre, et est sorti de sa retraite pour un match en 1947.
