Born near Lumsden but grew up in Regina where he learned to play hockey.
Was also a decent baseball player. Solid two-way player who didn’t mind to backcheck.
Scored 893 (426+467) career points in 1089 games. Retired in 1967.
Went on to coach in ice hockey and also worked as an NHL scout, discovering players like Grant Fuhr and Ryan Smyth. Was often seen walking around hockey arenas in his trench-coat, puffing on a cigar, while keeping an eye on future ice hockey talents.
Worked as a co-coach for Canada at the 1980 Olympics.
Had cancer but passed away of cardiac arrest at Regina General Hospital.

Né près de Lumsden, mais il a grandi et appris le hockey à Regina.
Était aussi un bon joueur de baseball. Hockeyeur complet que le travail défensif ne gênait pas.
A marqué 20 points (8+12) en 95 parties de NHL et 316 points (146+170) en 413 parties d'AHL. Retraité en 1967. Scored 893 (426+467) career points in 1089 games. Retired in 1967.
Devenu entraîneur puis scout NHL pour les Edmonton Oilers, découvrant des joueurs comme Grant Fuhr et Ryan Smyth. Souvent vu dans les patinoires avec son trench-coat et son cigare alors qu'il observait les futurs talents.

Avait un cancer mais est mort d'un arrêt cardiaque au Regina General Hospital.
