Excellent puckhandler who has outstanding one-on-one skills and also displays a fantastic wrist shot.
Uses a short stick. Decent skating. Not very physical. Quite weak defensively.
Drafted in the NHL by Nashville Predators 2003 as he was playing his junior hockey with Lukko Rauma, Finland.
One year later he joined the Kelowna Rockets, the top Canadian junior team at the time. Had a shoulder surgery while playing in WHL.
Flag-bearer of Latvia at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing together with luger Eliza Tiruma. He announced the end of his international career after the tournament, at 37.
Assistant coach of team Latvia when they won the bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships.

Excellent technicien qui est très doué en un-contre-un et dispose aussi d'un fantastique tir du poignet.
Il utilise une crosse courte. Patineur convenable. Pas très physique. Assez faible défensivement.
Drafté en NHL par les Nashville Predators en 2003 alors qu'il jouait en juniors pour Lukko Rauma, en Finlande.
Un an plus tard il a rejoint les Kelowna Rockets, alors la meilleure équipe junior du Canada. A subi une opération à l'épaule pendant son séjour en WHL.
Porte-drapeau de la Lettonie aux Jeux olympiques d'hiver 2022 à Pékin avec la lugeuse Eliza Tiruma, il annonce sa retraite internationale à l'issue du tournoi, à 37 ans.
Un an plus tard, il est l'un des entraîneurs-adjoints de la Lettonie qui conquiert la médaille de bronze aux Mondiaux 2023.
