Dangerous around the goal with good scoring instincts. Physical player not afraid to hit. Good hands and neat stickhandler. Below average defensively and questionable work ethic.
After seven seasons over in North America he spent the most of his career playing in Germany.
While playing in the DEL with Cologne, the supersticious Ciernik once had a long streak without scoring a goal, so in order to break the drought, he washed his sticks in the toilet to "break the spell".

L'enclave adverse est la zone de prédilection de ce buteur massif, enclin au contact et doté avec cela d'une bonne technique palet en crosse. La fiabilité et le travail défensif sont ses principaux défauts.
A passé sept saisons en Amérique du Nord, baladé entre NHL et ligues mineures. Revenu en Europe à l'occasion du lockout, il s'est fixé en DEL.
Après une longue série sans marquer durant son passage à Cologne, le buteur superstitieux occupa les toilettes pour y laver sa crosse.
