Was a defensive left winger who did a lot of the unheralded defensive work on his lines. Was nominated to play at the 1959 World Championships and 1960 Olympics. An injury kept him out in 1959 and sickness in 1960.
Played for Tatranská Lomnice between 1952 and 1954, he then continued playing for Spartak Brno ZJŠ (1954-1956), Slovan Bratislava (1956-1969), finishing his playing career Wiener EV 1969/70. In total he scored 144 league goals in around 400 games. Was part of a good line together with Ján Starší and Karol Fako. He represented Czechoslovakia 12 times (6 goals).
After his playing career he coached various clubs in Czechoslovakia. He also coached the Czechoslovakian U-20 team and in the 1980s and 90s he coached in Denmark, including being the assistant coach for the Danish national team.

Ailier gauche défensif auquel ses partenaires de lignes confiaient le boulot de l'ombre. Sélectionné pour le Mondial 1959, mais il contracta une blessure. À nouveau retenu pour les JO 1960, il tomba malade quelques jours avant. N'eut plus d'autres occasions de disputer une grande compétition.
Fit sa formation à Tatranská Lomnice, en Slovaquie, qu'il quitta en 1954 pour rejoindre les Moraves du Spartak Brno ZJŠ (1954-1956) puis retourner "chez lui", au Slovan Bratislava, jusqu'en 1969. Une petite année en Autriche, au WEV, et il raccrocha les patins à 33 ans. 144 buts inscrits pour environ 400 matches disputés en tout. Douze sélections internationales, six buts. Souvent aligné pendant sa carrière aux côtés de Ján Starší et Karol Fako.
Devint ensuite entraîneur dans de nombreux clubs tchécoslovaques et auprès de la sélection U20 de Tchécoslovaquie. Séjourna au Danemark dans les années 80-90, où il occupa notamment le poste d'assistant de la sélection nationale.
