Also a very good tennis player for TC Neuchâtel and a wellrounded athlete who played football in Swiss second-tier with FC Cantonal Neuchâtel and field hockey with Young Sprinters.
Began his ice hockey career in his hometown of Neuchâtel with HC Young Sprinters before moving on to Grasshoppers and Lausanne.
Part of the "B" team Switzerland had to field in the 1953 World Championships it hosted in order to ensure there was a sufficient number of teams. He was the only player to be downgraded to B-team after he won the last preparation game with "A" team.
After his playing career, Cattin became an ice hockey and football coach. An accident in later years put a stop to his tennis playing.
Passed away at l'Hôpital de Cadolles in Neuchâtel.

Sportif éclectique, il faisait profiter les clubs du canton de ses dons multiples: tennisman pour le TC Neuchâtel, footballeur au FC Cantonal (LNB) et hockeyeur sur gazon avec les Young Sprinters, pour lesquels il montait sur la glace l'hiver. Il a rejoint ensuite les Grasshoppers Zürich et Lausanne.
Sélectionné dans l'équipe "B" que la Suisse dut aligner lors des championnats du monde 1953 qu'elle organisa après différents forfaits. Il fut le seul joueur rétrogradé en équipe B après avoir gagné le dernier match de préparation avec l'équipe A.
Devenu entraîneur de football et de hockey sur glace. Un accident tardif l'éloigna en revanche des courts de tennis.
Mort à 64 ans à l'Hôpital Cadolles de Neuchâtel.
