Giuseppe (Joe) Busillo

Busillo, Giuseppe

Position : LW

13-05-1970 Toronto, ON, CAN

Youth team / club formateur : Oshawa Generals

Born in Toronto to Italian parents. Impressive size. Lot of grit in penalty killing.
His style of hockey is not spectacular but very physical and even nasty. Always unpleasant to play for his opponents.
Won two groundbreaking, unexpected titles with two Italian small clubs: Alpenliga with Alleghe and Federation Cup with Varese.
His Italian wife is from Varese. They got two children together (a son and a daughter).
Had to leave Italy because of an 11-month suspension for rough play. Went to Germany and scored 80 (24+56) career points in 275 DEL games.
Refused to play for Italy in 2002/03 when the oriundi protested because they were had foreigner status in league play, but came back as national team captain.
Finished his career in Milan. Loved by fans because he was always available for them. Four-time Italian champion in four years. Showed his cleverness during 2003 title-winning game when he provoked Jason Cirone, a better penalty shot player, so that they could both get expelled before the shootout.
Became a mortgage underwriter and then later a mortgage agent in Canada.

Né à Toronto de parents italiens. Gabarit impressionnant (196 cm, 96 kg).
