Consistent and reliable stay-at-home defenseman who learned to skate at the old Olympia in Detroit (Detroit Red Wings old home arena), where both his father and grandfather worked.
Naturally Gordie Howe was his greatest influence growing up.
Aggressive in front of his own net where he often used his strength to clear the crease.
Always in tremendous physical shape and was among the best conditioned NHL players when he played.
Scored 325 (72+253) career points in 1032 games. Retired in 2001.
A born again Christian. Worked with a sports ministry called Champions of Christ in Texas, reaching out to professional and college athletes.
Served on the pastoral staff of Morning Star New York in Manhattan.
