His father was born in Scotland and his mother in Nova Scotia.
A fast skater with a bullet of a shot who had played for the Montreal Royals in the early 1930s.
He was one of four players brought from Toronto to strengthen the Sudbury team for the 1938 World Championships.
In the fifth game he broke his ankle in two places on January 20 in a game played in St.Moritz prior to the World Championships and was unable to participate in the tournament.
He watched the teams from the sideline and was impressed by the Europeans.
Thought the Czechs were marvellous skaters and that Switzerland had the finest combinations.
Moved to British Columbia in the early 1950s and worked as a financial advisor.

Son père était né en Écosse et sa mère en Nouvelle-Écosse.
Un patineur rapide avec un lancer puissant qui a joué pour les Royals de Montréal au début des années 1930.
Il fut l'un des quatre joueurs prêtés par Toronto pour renforcer l'équipe de Sudbury durant les Mondiaux de 1938.
Dans le cinquième match de préparation, le 20 janvier à Saint-Moritz, il se brisa la cheville en deux endroits et ne put finalement prendre part aux Championnats du Monde.
Il observa les équipes depuis la touche et fut impressionné par les Européens.
Il considéra les Tchèques comme de merveilleux patineurs et les Suisses comme auteurs des meilleures combinaisons.
Il partit en Colombie Britannique au début des années 1950 et travailla comme conseiller financier.
