Good speed and skills with the puck. First-ever American-born player to be drafted in the NHL (by Detroit Red Wings in 1968).
After graduating from university in 1970 he chose to sign a pro contract over joining the U.S. National Team.
Attended the Red Wings training camps every year between 1970-74, but always ended up in the minors.
Captain for USA at the 1975 World Championships.
Got an offer to play in Sweden after that tournament, but turned down and retired instead.
Went on to coach in his former university Michigan Tech. Coach of the year in the WCHA in 1988. Also scouted in the NHL.
Later worked as a technical recruiter for Cook Systems International in Memphis, Tennessee). Both his sons played college hockey.

Bonne vitesse et technique avec le palet. Premier Américain drafté en NHL, par les Red Wings de Detroit en 1968.
Après son diplôme universitaire, il a choisi de signer un contrat professionnel plutôt que de rejoindre l'équipe nationale des États-Unis.
Il a participé chaque année aux camps d'entraînement de Detroit entre 1970 et 1974, mais fut toujours envoyé en ligues mineures.
Capitaine des États-Unis pour les Mondiaux de 1975.
Il reçut une offre pour jouer en Suède après ce tournoi, mais il refusa et prit sa retraite à la place.
Il devint entraîneur dans son ancienne université Michigan Tech, d'abord neuf ans comme adjoint puis comme coach principal, entraîneur de l'année de WCHA en 1988. Il fut aussi recruteur pour la NHL.
Il travailla plus tard comme recruteur technique pour Cook Systems International à Memphis (Tennessee). Ses deux fils ont joué au hockey en université.
