Although born in Ontario, he grew up in Windsor, NS with his siblings and English-born mother.
His father was a former president of the Kings College.
Charles Boulden was educated at the Royal Military College in Kingston, ON, together with several hockey friends like Brian Carr-Harris (WC 1931) and Peter Fair (EC 1932 and WC 1934).
Also attended Military School of Engineers in Chatham, England.
Served with the Royal Canadian Engineers (Liutenant Colonel) and died while on service on January 29, 1944. (attd. H.Q. 26th Indian Div.).
He was awarded the O.B.E. shortly before his death. He is buried in Calcutta, India.

Bien que né en Ontario, il a grandi à Windsor, en Nouvelle-Écosse, avec ses frères et soeurs et une mère anglaise.
Son père était un ancien président du Kings College.
Charles Boulden a été scolarisé au Royal Military College à Kingston, ON, avec des amis du hockey comme Brian Carr-Harris (Mondiaux 1931) et Peter Fair (Championnat d'Europe 1932 et Mondiaux 1934.
Il a également étudié à l'école d'ingénierie militaire de Chatham, en Angleterre.
Il a servi pour l'ingénierie militaire royale canadienne (Lieutenant Colonel) et est mort en service le 29 janvier 1944 (26e division militaire indienne).
Il avait reçu les Ordres de l'Empire Britannique (distinction) peu de temps avant son décès. Il est enterré à Calcutta, en Inde.
