Intelligent player with an unselfish and good approach to the game. Aggresive play from a young age. His skating was his main weakness.
Broke into the West German league as an 18-year old, winning the league title with SB Rosenheim during his first year, and then won another two league titles with Rosenheim.
Formed a very good line with Manfred Ahne and Axel Kammerer, known as the “AKB line”. Played 608 career games in German elite league, scoring 408 points (115+293).
He missed 1988 Olympic Games because of a scaphoid fracture.
Retired in 2000 but stayed in hockey and immediately continued as an assistant coach and later as head coach. Went on living in Rosenheim.

Joueur intelligent, faisant preuve de générosité et d'une bonne approche des rencontres. Bonne anticipation du jeu.
Jeu physique et agressif dès le plus jeune âge, encouragé par ses aînés à Rosenheim. Le patinage était son point faible.
Arrivé dans la ligue ouest-allemande à 18 ans, coopté par Hans Zach sur sa ligne, champion dès sa première saison complète, il a participé à tous les trois titres du SB Rosenheim.
Il formait une excellent ligne avec Manfred Ahne et Axel Kammerer, connu sous le nom de "ligne AKB". 608 matchs en élite allemande, inscrivant 408 points (115+293).
Il n'a pas participé aux Jeux olympiques, manquant le voyage vers Calgary en 1988 à cause d'une fracture du scaphoïde.
Retraité en 2000 mais resté dans le hockey, il a immédiatement continué en assistant coach et plus tard entraîneur principal. Il vit toujours à Rosenheim.
