Began his ice hockey career with Dynamo Weißwasser, a team he also helped winning league championship in 1981. Represented East Germany 47 times.
Calm and collected player who in later years shifted to defense.
Retired in 1994 but made a comeback and played in the German amateur league in between 2000 and 2003. Collapsed of a heart attack during a football game.

Démarra sa carrière de joueur de hockey au Dynamo Weißwasser, qu'il aida à remporter le championnat en 1981. Il a porté le maillot de l'Allemagne de l'Est 47 fois.
Joueur calme et précieux qui plus tard fut repositionné en défense.
Mécanicien de formation.
Retraité en 1994 mais il a fait un retour en jouant en Sachsenliga pour Niesky entre 2000 et 2003. Est décédé d'une crise cardiaque durant un match de football.
