Older brother of Stig "Stickan" Andersson. Began playing ice hockey at the age of eight. Was quite small in younger days, earning him the nickname "Plutten" (Tiny).
Tactically sound player who was always calm under pressure. Positionally skilled with a good eye for the play. Shifted to defense in later years. Very fair and never got riled up, even if provoked. Seldom injured due to his intuition and awareness on the ice. Captain for several years after the war. Often played non-stop, never complained and was seldom penalized.
Record holder in Sweden with 23 league seasons. Represented Sweden 161 times (57 goals). Also represented Sweden seven times in bandy, a sport he said was his favorite one.
Longtime captain of the Swedish national team. Voted as the best player at the 1949 World Championships.
Good football player as well. Inducted into the Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Grand-frère de Stig "Stickan" Andersson, avec lequel il a commencé à jouer au hockey dès l'âge de huit ans. Sa croissance tardive lui a valu ce surnom de "Plutten", qui signifie approximativement "p'tit gars".
Joueur très sûr tactiquement, serein dans les moments délicats, bien placé et doté d'une lecture appréciable du jeu. Ainsi, il a pu passer sans difficulté en défense à la fin de sa carrière.
Ne se laissait pas emporter dans les provocations ni ne contestait, ce qui le rendait étranger aux bancs des prisons. Ajoutez à cela son intuition et son flair qui lui évitaient les blessures, et vous obtenez un candidat idéal au poste de capitaine. Il tint d'ailleurs longtemps le C de la Tre Kronor (161 sélections, 57 buts), d'autant plus aisément qu'il quittait rarement la glace.
A disputé 23 saisons au plus haut niveau en championnat de Suède, ce qui constitue un record. Également international suédois de bandy, son sport préféré disait-il, et bon joueur de football.
Élu meilleur joueur des championnats du monde 1949, introduit au Hall of Fame suédois.
