Physically big defenseman. Known for his simple game with good defensive awareness and few mistakes. Played in Vienna and Villach but also spent a season in Sweden (Örebro and Karlskrona) to improve his skills.
Competed in inline hockey and was part of the Austrian national team that competed at the World Championships between 2008 and 2010.

Défenseur costaud et imposant au jeu sans fioritures. Vigilant et peu susceptible de sautes de concentration, Altmann a débuté à Vienne avant de passer à Villach, toujours en Ligue autrichienne (élargie), avec dans l'intervalle un passage par la Suède (Örebro et Karlskrona) pour compléter sa formation.
A longtemps combiné hockey sur glace et version en roller, au point de participer aux championnats du monde 2008 and 2010 de la discipline, sous le drapeau autrichien bien entendu.
