Moved with his family to Canada at the age of five and lived in both Coniston and Niagara Falls, ON, Canada. Played for Galt Black Hawks in the junior B league.
He lived in Niagara Falls for thirteen years until he was 18, before moving back to Italy.
Played as a forward in the first Olympic game in 1956 before shifting back to defense for the rest of the tournament. Moved back to Canada after his Italian stint and was involved in local ice hockey (Niagara), coaching juvenile teams. In North America he was called "Reno".
His year of death is often incorrectly given as 1996.

Né en Italie avant d'émigrer avec sa famille vers le Canada en 1941, pour fuir la fascisme et la guerre. Les Alberton se sont installés dans l'Ontario, d'abord à Coniston puis à Niagara Falls. C'est là que Rino a appris le hockey. On le retrouve aux Black Hawks de Galt en ligue junior.
À 18 ans, il retourne temporairement en Italie, ce qui lui permet de participer aux Jeux olympiques d'hiver de Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Aligné en attaque pour le premier match du tournoi, il retourne derrière pour les quatre matches restants.
De retour au Canada, il s'impliquera dans le hockey de catégories d'âge, toujours à Niagara dans l'Ontario.
En Amérique, son prénom était orthographié "Reno". Pas la seule erreur le concernant : on a longtemps situé sa mort en 1996.
