In 1907 his father moved from nearby Fläsch and settled down in Davos and opened up a grocery business. Erwin joined the company in 1934 where his older brother Fritz already worked.
Today, four generations later the Adank Davos AG is a large food wholesaler.
Utility player who was used as a defenseman and on all forward positions.
Played in the HC Davos system for several years in the 1930s and early 1940s, but never quite managed to establish himself permanently on the strong Davos squad at the time, that virtually was the Swiss national team. In the military he was a Quartermaster sergeant (fourrier), administrating the finances and subsistence.

Sept ans avant la naissance d'Erwin, son père arrive à Davos depuis la commune voisine de Fläsch pour fonder une chaîne d'épiceries. Erwin rejoint l'entreprise à ses vingt ans et y retrouve son frère Fritz.
Quatre générations ont passé et la société Adank Davos AG est devenue un des grossistes en produits alimentaires les plus renommés de Suisse.
Erwin Adank était un factotum utilisé partout sauf au but, mais majoritairement en défense.
Joueur du HC Davos durant les décennies 1930 et 1940 sans jamais devenir une pièce majeure de ce club qui était... le grossiste de la Nati de l'époque. À l'armée, il était quartier-maître (ou fourrier), c'est-à-dire en charge des finances et de l'intendance.
